Description
Improve the touch of your Wurlitzer and make the keys nice and even with our front and balance rail key rescue kit. Remove the keys of your Wurlitzer and add the small paper shims at the balance rail to change the key height. The larger front rail punchings can then be added to the front rail to change the amount of key dip if needed.
This kit contains a mixture of different thicknesses of punchings to add to your existing ones. If you need more choose our selection of balance rail and front rail punchings.
Instructions
The smaller balance rail shims are inserted on the balance rail pins for each key. This is located at the centre of the key.
Remove the key and insert the punchings underneath the felt until you get the desired key height for white and black keys.
Use a straight edge for more presicion. Generally the felts in the middle of the piano become compressed more (because you play more there), meaning that these notes will require more shims underneath.
Once the balance rail is adjusted the key dip can be adjusted using the larger front rail shims. These are inserted underneath the felts on the balance rail pin at the front of the key. Key dip should be 3/8" or 10mm. This can be slightly more however the key is to make each note even. Use a ruler to measure the dip of the key while pressing the key down before it goes into aftertouch.
